Introducing the New Eco-Plus Whole House Water Filter and Water Softener

Eco plus whole house water filter and water softener

Eco plus whole house water filter

Q.  What are the benefits of your Eco Plus Whole House Water Filter?

A. One of our whole house filter systems can provide every tap in your home with purified water, this greatly improves the taste and odour of the water and also contains antibacterial filter media which helps to kill bacteria and control bacteria growth. Our Whole House System will also have a softening effect on the water which prevents lime scale build up in pipes and appliances such as combi boilers, washing machines, etc… and it also does this softening effect without the need for any chemicals or salts to be added to the water, making the water perfectly safe to drink (and great tasting due to the filtration)

The Eco +  Whole House System is a fantastic one off investment for your home filtration.

Q.  What does your Whole House Water Filter System filter?

A. The Eco Plus whole house system will reduce levels of many different chemicals and compounds from the water including: Chlorine, THM’s, PCB’s, Heavy metals (if present) Lead,  Cadmium, Chromium, Selenium, Mercury, Iron and heavy metals – see list BELOW

Eco plus system effectively recudes the following:
Chlorine
E-coli
Hormones
Herbicides
Pesticides
THMs ECBs TMEs
Trihalomethanes
Psuedomonas
Solvents incl. PCBs,PAHS
Trace Heavy Metals (on exchange)
Lead
Mercury

Q.  Will my laundry be improved?

A. Your laundry may be improved due to the reduction of scale in the washing machine and also due to high levels of chlorine being removed from the water

Q.  What about the dishwasher?

A. Yes. The dishwasher will benefit as there will be a reduction of scale

Q.  We use a lot of water for the garden. It seems a shame to use the whole house water filter for this, is there a way of by passing the filter?

A. Yes, we fit by pass valves as standard to all of our Whole House Systems to allow you to do this for the garden/cleaning cars/pressure washing/ filling of pools etc.  The valves also allow filter changes to be done without cutting off the water supply to the rest of your home.

Q.   How long do the filters last?

A.   Normally 2 years or 200,000 litres

This is changed every 12 months and is very easy to do so, we also supply this spare filter as standard, however if your water supply contains high amounts of sediment, then the filters may need changing before then. For example – if your local water company repairs a leak in the road, then your tap water may be cloudy for a short period following the repair, due to mud dissolved in it. This mud may clog up the sediment primary filter of the  Eco+ Whole House System. To avoid this we recommend using the by- pass valves until the water runs clear again.

Q.  We have a combi boiler and cold water feed electric shower. Will the Whole House System affect these?

A.   Our system has been designed with large industrial use filter pods to minimise any potential pressure loss. To date we have not experienced any loss of pressure with any of the installations we have done due to this.

Q.   Can we change our own filters?

A.  Yes, it is very easy and we supply the tool to remove the used filter and replace with new. However if you prefer us to do this for you we offer a full engineer service, call us for details.

Q.   Is the system easy to install?

A. Yes.  A plumber or competent DIY person will be able to fit this to your home or business property.

We supply the flexible hoses and connections with the system, so you do not have to source and purchase these separately.

Full bypass kit and Compression joint included

Q. do you offer a fitting service?

A. Yes, please call us for details, cost will depend on location and whether a survey is needed,

Q.  If we move home, can we take the filters with us?

A.   Yes, this is not a problem. The unit can easily be detached and re fitted at your new home.

Q.  How long does the unit last?

A. As there are no moving parts, and provided there is no external damage to your system, it should last 20 years plus. We do recommend that the gasket seals are replaced every 3 years as these eventually lose effectiveness. Standard 1 year warranty is given.

Q Is the water softened?

A. yes, but it will not be to the same degree as full conventional water softener, we have other products for hard water areas, our Hard water treatment system is effective for this.

Q. what about the minerals in the water, are these removed?

A. no, the filtration media retains the natural minerals in the water

Q How does the filtration work?

A. It uses a new type of filtration known as Active Ceramics, for more information on this type of filtration click on the “active ceramics explained”  link on the right-hand side of our homepage

Advantages of a 3 way tap

3 Way Taps as they are known have been increasing in popularity throughout the UK over the last decade. This has partly been down to the ever increasing popularity of under sink water filter systems and also down to the convenience a 3 way Tap provides.

So what exactly is a 3 Way Tap and why is it convenient?

These taps literally are 3 Way Taps which can dispense hot, cold, and filtered water all from one faucet. The characteristics of 3 way tap are typically that of a kitchen mixer tap with a filtered water lever on the side. Other variations of 3 wayTaps also include a dual cross style of tap which consists of two side levers for hot and cold water, and a separate centre lever for dispensing filtered water.

One thing to note with 3 Way Taps is that not all of them use a separate internal dedicated spout for dispensing filtered water, some will use the same spout channel in the stem of the tap.

Please note that this does not mean a separate neck or spout coming from the tap, but rather the hole inside the stem of the main tap. This basically means if you are running hot water from your 3 Way Tap, and then decide to pour a glass of filtered water by using the Filtered Water Lever, you will get some unfiltered hot water coming out of the 3 Way Tap for the first few seconds. This scenario is typical of the cheaper models of 3 way taps, however more expensive and better quality models will use a separate internal spout so this issue does not arise.

So how easy is it to fit a 3 Way Tap?

Well put simply, if you can fit a Kitchen Tap, then you can fit a 3 Way tap. The vast majority (if not all) 3 Way Taps use standard sized fittings. Typically they will come with 3 separate hoses to connect to 3 holes on the bottom of the tap. One hose will connect to the hot water pipe, one to the cold water pipe, and one to the water filter pipe. The fittings may vary in size for the water filter pipe however all of the 3 Way Taps for sale at Water Filter Man ltd come with a hose with standard ¼” fittings, which enables you to connect the tap to the vast majority of under sink water filters (or to a ¼” to 3/8” adapter depending on your current pipe size).

3 Way Tap disadvantages?

In terms of convenience, and looks, there are no disadvantages with a 3 Way Tap, in fact the only disadvantage for most people is the high price tag that has been put on these taps. Large brands  can cost anywhere between £200 – £800, which many will agree is a lot for a tap. However Water Filter Man Ltd has began importing high quality 3 Way Taps and retailing them online from as little as £79.99 (inc VAT and with free postage and packing!)

So if you have just got a new Water Filter and don’t want the inconvenience of using a separate dedicated Drinking Water Tap, then checkout our range of 3 Way Taps for the highest quality at the best prices.
